The exhibition features five cases displaying images of Union soldiers and one case containing portraits of Confederates, photographs of whom are much more difficult to find because far fewer were made during the war. Collectively these portraits on exhibit serve as a memorial to those who lost their lives during the war by displaying images of 360 Union soldiers—one for every thousand who died.
